Stretch Hood packaging line installed by Robotec Packing at Equipe Ceramicas

Robotec Packing has recently installed a new Stretch Hood packaging line in the logistics area of Equipe Ceramicas, an automatic solution designed to improve protection, stability and efficiency when packaging picking loads and palletized products.

The project strengthens Robotec Packing’s presence in the ceramic and logistics sectors, where packaging reliability, production continuity and adaptation to variable loads are key factors for orderly and competitive dispatch operations.

A Stretch Hood line integrated at the end of the line

Before defining the solution, Robotec Packing carried out a preliminary study of the process, production volumes and dispatch requirements at Equipe Ceramicas. After this analysis, Stretch Hood technology was identified as the most suitable alternative due to its production speed and its reduction in consumables and gas compared with other packaging solutions.

The installation has been configured around a Messersi Stretch Hood MH1 machine for automatic pallet hooding, a technology that applies a stretch film hood over the load without any heat input. This system provides uniform product protection, good stability during handling and a clean presentation for storage and transport.

In this case, the choice of Stretch Hood makes it possible to achieve approximate savings of 50% in consumables and gas, optimizing the operating cost of packaging without compromising pallet protection or stability.

In this implementation, the line includes ten conveyors, two centering units and one turntable, elements that organize pallet flow, position the load correctly and adapt line movement to the real needs of the installation.

The combination of transport, centering, turning and automatic hooding reduces manual intervention, maintains a steady working pace and improves packaging consistency on every processed pallet.

Efficient automation for picking loads

The solution installed at Equipe Ceramicas is designed to meet the needs of ceramic picking, where loads can range from pallets with only a few boxes to full pallets ready for dispatch. This variability requires a system capable of adapting to different heights, geometries and load levels without losing stability or packaging quality.

Stretch Hood technology addresses this need by applying a stretch hood that fits the contour of the pallet, both for partial loads and full loads. Compared with automatic wrapping systems or shrink-wrapping processes, this solution provides greater versatility for picking, homogeneous protection and a cleaner final presentation.

The goal of the project was to automate a logistics process with high format variability, reducing manual operations while maintaining a constant flow of pallets towards dispatch. For a logistics area that prepares orders for different channels, the ability to handle irregular loads is key to improving productivity, protection and operating cost.

Automation for more efficient dispatch

With this new installation, the logistics area of Equipe Ceramicas incorporates a solution prepared to increase pallet packaging efficiency and reinforce product protection during handling, storage and transport.

With Stretch Hood technology, Equipe Ceramicas has reduced film consumption and eliminated the use of gas in this packaging stage, obtaining a more cost-effective and sustainable solution for its logistics operation.

For Robotec Packing, “this project is another example of integrating end-of-line industrial packaging equipment adapted to each customer’s needs, combining Stretch Hood technology and automatic transport in a complete line prepared for picking. It also reflects how our customers choose us for the robustness and quality of our equipment, together with an agile and effective technical service.”
